The Descendants
How has this movie gotten such high praise? It was so contrived and depressing that it became uncomfortable sitting there watching it. My immediate impression afterward was that I didn’t like it, but now I am of the opinion that this Hallmark-without-the-moral slop was utterly terrible.
After trying so hard to make you cry with long, unnecessary scenes, the only options you are left with are to roll your eyes (me), or give in as the emotion is milked out of you with no redeeming payoff in return.
This movie sucked. Fuck the Oscars if this gets nominated for anything more than “Outstanding* Use of the Word Retarded.”
